Murray Equipment, Inc. is looking for a dedicated and reliable delivery driver to drive our box truck/van within 50 miles from Fort Wayne IN. This person will be responsible for moving parts, raw material, scrap, and other merchandise from one location to another. They may also be a backup driver for our Ford F350 flatbed truck and hauling trailer. The driver will be home every night and delivering freight from business to business. We do not make residential deliveries.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows all traffic laws, DOT regulations and best practices for safety when delivering items.
  • Plans and completes efficient delivery deadlines and pick up routes for the day.
  • Prepares and loads the delivery vehicle with products or material scheduled for delivery.
  • Delivers products, raw material and or scrap to correct addresses.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and obtains client or customer signatures and proof of receipt when needed.
  • Picks up products along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
  • Communicates with the warehouse teams, other drivers, and other team members to make deliveries.
  • Maintains basic records of truck mileage and deliveries made.
  • Performs basic truck maintenance according to maintenance schedule, such as refueling, doing visual inspections and reporting potential larger issues/ service needs and mechanical needs to supervisor. 
  • Completes paperwork related to the deliveries and completes reports as required.
  • Uses additional equipment, such as forklifts, hand trucks and dollies, as needed.
  • Assists in general warehouse duties when delivery route is completed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience in delivery driving or other related work experience such as prior experience in shipping and or receiving preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam and receive DOT medical certification card.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
